Butt’s Up
June 3, 2008 - 9:37pm — GettingOutside
Butt’s Up isn’t for the faint of heart. It was an odd game played by the hearty, rowdy kids back in the day. To quote a buddy’s sarcastic remark, “Awesome game....a real character builder of days gone past.”
The Rules: In Butt’s Up, the players bounce a tennis ball against a wall. They have to catch it with one hand. If they bobble the ball – touch it and miss it – they have to run to the wall and touch it before the other player(s) bean them with the ball. If they hit the player before he touches the wall, it costs him a point.
It’s called, "Butts Up" because after you get so many points (I remember it as 11, while one of my friends from the neighborhood remembers it as 3), you lose and you have to go to the wall, bend over with your butt up, while the other players all get so many throws at you (again maybe 3) each.
Did anyone else play this game or something like it? Let us know!

We'd love to hear the games you played when you were young. Share them with your friends on GettingOutside.
