How to Post a Link Back to Your Site

Content Check List

Lately, we've seen a lot of people come to our site to post links back to their own or other sites. We review all these links and comments, having to unfortunately delete the vast majority. Since some people have shared some good tips and comments that enhanced our community, I wanted to take a few minutes to post some guidelines on what we're looking for when it comes to posting comments with links to other sites.

Please use these guidelines so you don't waste your time or ours.

Comments. The title and the body of your commentary has to be in context with the article you are posting to. It has to feature structurally sound English. In short, IT HAS TO MAKE SENSE... and fit in the place you put it.

Ask yourself if the comments you're making fit the topic and if they add value to the discussion, as opposed to some jibberish or flattery.

Links. The links have to be in context with the article you are posting to and should be informative, not just a link to a product page. If you put a comment and link under one of our swimming articles and it points to a product page selling boots, what do you think we're going to do? DELETE!

Ask yourself if the page you're linking to is reflective of the content you are posting it under and then ask yourself will it increase the readers' knowledge of the topic or merely try and sell them a product.

Content. No drugs. No pornography. No weapons. No hate. Our goal is to create a family friendly environment. If you wouldn't want your kids or your mom to read it, then don't post it. In case you're still not sure, please read our GettingOutside.com Terms of Service. We reserve the right to remove or alter any comments or links that we don't like.

We hope this helps you to better frame your comments so they fit the topic you are posting under and to determine whether or not the links you post will be accepted.

Thank you!
