Bees beware...
I could not help, but write a quick note of warning when i noticed the blog about hornets on your house. Both of my grandparents recently were killed by bees. You hear about it all the time on the news, but never expect it to happen to you or your family this took place in south texas. I suppose you can still pull up articles on it. But, my words of wisdom is that the africanized bees are headed north mainly occupying the south warmer(hopefully only the warmer regions) They "WILL" chase you for three and a half miles so beware. It mainly pretains to elderly and infants/toddlers. My grandmother had three hundred and fifty stings. Twenty-four hours later the venom hits you again and twice as hard FYI. They leave a pheremon scent on you that enables them to find you very effeicently. Jumping in water won't prevent you from being stung they will wait for you above the water. Also, do not attempt to used wasp or hornet spray to remove them it is very toxic. (seek medical if you choose to do so) they do target movement and noise. Colors are also important to avoid contact. They like blue not Yellow or white??

wow so deadly
Hey thanks for the warning dude, I'm definitely going to stay safe from such bees if I go to Africa some day.
Bees are definitely a terror
Bees are definitely a terror sometimes. You have to be very careful with them. Some kids are allergic to bees and it will hurt them bad.
Discovering your personality
Discovering your personality type can help you to identify the type of work for which you are well-suited and the fields in which you are most likely to succeed.
At risk within the ecological
At risk within the ecological and food consumption chains - the estimated value of honey bees to the Australian economy, mainly through their value as pollination agents.
Outdoor Recreation Safety for Africanized Bees
1. Look out for honey bee colonies when outdoors, especially when climbing or hiking around rocks.
2. If you find a colony of bees, leave them alone and keep others away.
3. Keep your dogs under control. If a dog disturbs a colony when bounding through the bush, it is likely to bring the bees back to you.
4. Wear light colored clothes, including socks. Bees target objects that resemble their natural predators (bears and skunks) when they defend their nests, so they tend to go after dark leathery or furry objects. Keep in mind that bees see the color red as black, so flourescent orange is a better choice when hunting.
5. Avoid wearing scents of any sort when hiking.
6. Be particularly careful when using heavy equipment that produces sound vibrations, such as chainsaws, weed eaters, tractors or generators.
7. Keep escape routes in mind. If at all possible, avoid areas where you cannot escape quickly if attacked.
8. If you know you are allergic to bee stings, always have someone else with you when doing outdoor activities.

AFRICANIZED HONEY BEE FACTS
The bees…
Check your home and yard at least once a month to see if there are any signs of bees. If you do find a swarm or colony, leave it alone and keep family and pets away. Contact a pest control company to remove the hive.
To help prevent honey bees from building a colony in your house or yard, fill all cracks and crevices in walls with caulk, insulation, or other fillers. Remove piles of refuse, as honey bees will nest in an old soda can or overturned flower pot. Fill holes in the ground.

Africanized honey bees (AHB) – also called "killer bees" – became established in Texas in 1990 and are spreading to other southern states.
Casey, many thanks for the
Casey, many thanks for the advice. My wife and I have encountered various bees, Wasps and hornets through the years at our current house, which is in a wooded location. One time about five years ago, after returning from a Fourth of July parade, my wife chose to trim the hedges in front of our house. Initially, I suggested hiring a neighborhood kid to do it (as if you could even find a kid who would do that now). With saw in hand, my wife bravely attempted to saw one branch, when these things flew out and chased us to the other side of the house. Amazingly, my wife was not stung, but I was. Fortunately, it wasn't too painful, but rest assured, my lazy man's vote for procrastination will carry a lot more weight in the future!
