One crisp fall morning my wife and I decided to take the family apple
picking. We thought it would be good to get outside with together; we'd get some
fresh air and exercise and have some fun. Most importantly we'd be together.
After an exhaustive search on the internet - and trust me, I'm not a newbie -
we took off with several possible places to go, all in the same vicinity, all in
Bucks County, PA.
The first place was a far, but it didn't look open to the public in any way,
shape or form. The second place was non-existent. The third place had been
sprawled to death. (Thank you luxury homebuilders.)
With sad and whiny kids in tow, we had to go home, search again, and head
over the border to Jersey. Another odyssey had begun. After searching and
searching, I stopped in a Kwickie Mart and asked the good folks behind the
counter if they knew of a place. They did, and we finally had our chance to pick
some apples.
The kicker occurred the next day at work. A coworker said, “you did all that?
There’s a place right around the corner from here. 5 minutes up the road.”
Right then and there the idea for GettingOutside.com was born.
GettingOutside is all about sharing great ideas with our friends – YOU! – and
having you share great ideas with one another. It’s about using what we’ve been
blessed with to give back to one another. So enjoy, participate and have fun
outside!
