Hide and Go Seek, or Hide and Seek
May 27, 2008 - 8:40pm — GettingOutside
Who out there didn't have fun playing some form of Hide and Seek at one time or another when they were a kid? Anyone? It is a grand ol' time - a tag game with simple rules that kids still love to play outside.
The Rules for Hide and Seek: First a home base is selected. We used to use an old well cover. It was big enough that we could all stand on it. Then one kid counts to a hundred or some other number while the other kids hide.
Then the person who is “it” goes to seek. If the seeker sees a hider she can call out the hider’s name, and they race to get back to the home base. Also, anyone can sneak back to the homebase at anytime and be home free.
If the seeker can’t find a person or two and wants to start the game over, they can say. “Ollie, Ollie Oxen Free.”
Hide and Seek, Hide and Go Seek
We'd love to hear the games you played when you were young. Share them with your friends on GettingOutside.
