Fishing, Fish, Go Fishing, Angling
February 27, 2010 - 12:05pm — Matt Kegelman
Fishing. Our favorite season... For young and old alike, fishing can be great outdoor fun. It can be something for the whole family to share, or it can be a solitary, meditative escape from the stressors of modern life.
Shared by friends, fishing can be an experience that bond us together for a lifetime. More than a few great memories have featured a fishing pole and some worms.
A father takes his son out to his favorite sandy river bank for a day of fishing and sharing, and that son never forgets. A mother takes her kids to the local duck pond with a couple of poles and some white bread to catch sunnies, and instantly everything about the moment is frozen in time.
At GettingOutside.com, we share the secrets of fishing with one another, the best places to fish, the best gear and how to use the tools of the trade. Whether you’re a champion fisherman or a complete novice, there’s something for you in these pages. You can share what you already know and learn what you don’t.
Remember fishing isn’t necessarily about catching fishing; if it was maybe we’d call it “catching.” Fishing is about the experiences we share with each other (and with nature): the call of a morning bird; the ripple of the water; the peaceful quiet; the smiles on a loved ones face.
