The Earth is Our Mother - We Must Take Care of Her - And We Have Been for 40 Years!

Earth is bombarded by UltraViolet Radiation constantly. Two protection systems..

"The earth is our Mother. We must take care of her." Those are the lyrics to the mantra-like song of a Native American Tribe who sung the song a long time ago and have passed it on from generation-to-generation. Now Earth Day has spanned generations since it's creation, back in 1970, so it has become clear that the message was communicated: We need to Protect and Sustain the Earth! This is why people celebrate Earth Day: They believe in the sacred and necessary qualities of earth as our provider and helper; for without earth, what do humans have for a place to call home, a way to get by, a comfortable habitat and abundant resources? Yes, without a stable and productive earth we are lost. Or would be lost. The good news is we haven't gotten there. Yet.

It is clear that we have tipped somewhat of a tide and right now the levels of atmospheric concentrations are shooting skyward without control. But is also becoming clear to more and more people that this will pose a problem (long term) and that it is wise to deal with such problems, at the source (of the pollution). There is simply just too much to loose. This year Earth Day will be more popular than ever. Estimates put the number of involved or active particpants quite near a billion people. That's 1000 groups of one million different people who look after the planet and choose to act in a way so they will not harm this home of ours for the rest of us!

The question is: Can one person clean up the mess of 6 others?

No, obviously not. Definitely not if new messes are being made by the others. And this is the state of the world we find ourselves in: It will only change when laws mandate that the other 5 people try their best as well to not screw up the work (for environmentalism, ecology, sustainability, pragmatism) that the people who heard the call in song - for earth's care - from the wise cultures of the past who knew how to live sustainably, without overconsuming or harming the land (what we would call today a "subsistence lifestyle" - there are still some of these people, mainly living in aborigineal "tribes", out there today).

There is so much work that needs to be done. I think we have to come together and do this work. The future of the environment is dependent on this.
