This Saturday, March 28, at 8:30PM you had the opportunity to VOTE EARTH by switching off your lights for one hour… EARTH HOUR! Did you?

It’s a small statement, but it can mean so much. Hundreds of landmarks, millions of homes and even many businesses went “dark” for an hour on Saturday night, March 28 at 8:30 all across the globe.

Our family spent the evening over at our good friends, the Annunziata's house. We dined by candlelight, and shared excellent food and equally good company. We couldn't think of a better way to spend the night, and both our houses were dark.

We hope you had a similar experience!

This was a great opportunity to teach your kids about the environment, people power and democracy. We hope you didn't let it slip by without taking this small amount of action.

Organizers were hoping 1 Billion people in total voted for the earth by turning off their lights tonight. The only way that was going to happen was if we all took part and told our friends too! Did you do your part? Did you send an email, text someone, pick up the phone to spread the word?

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.
