Around the world is a basketball shooting game or drill in which a series of shots must be made in order to move around a circuit and advance to the next position. The first player to make a shot at each position advances until she reaches the end where she wins.

The Rules: The first position is under the basket to the right. Players line up. The first kid takes her shot, and she makes it she moves on. If she misses it, it’s the next kid’s turn.

At any point during the game if a kid misses, they can call, “chance.” Then they get to retake the shot. If they make it, they keep shooting. If not, they have to start over again. (We played unlimited chances, but some rules will say you get only one.)

The next position is on the right-side square (key) or corner at the “3 point” distance. The 3rd position is at the right of the free throw line. The 4th station is at the free throw line and the next station is to the left of it. The next is on the left-side square (key) or corner at the “3 point” distance.. And finally the last shot is under the basket on the left-hand side.

Some variations require you start and finish with a lay-up, while others have you making your final shot from the 3 point distance directly behind the foul line. You can be creative and have more or less positions to shoot from. It’s a game, have fun with it.
